WatSmart TM
WatSmart TM - Threat monitoring with a human touch.
It goes without saying that anti-virus and anti-spyware software is essential to secure an organization’s systems from lurking threats. However, such packages, as intelligently designed as they are, only go so far. Every day systems are compromised despite malware protection.
Businesses collect, compute and store sensitive and personal information about their customers, business partners and employees. Furthermore, in the corporate world, lost time means lost productivity, lost revenue and lost customer confidence. Continuity of operation is essential for business systems. Every PC user has - at one time or another - been forced to devote an evening (or even a weekend) to reinstall Windows because his or her system has crashed or become riddled with malware. Office systems and networks are both more complex and more crucial. Successful hackers have brought entire organizations down for weeks or more by exploiting commonly known system flaws.
Calling one’s credit card issuer to report a stolen number or suspicious activity can be a nuisance. Informing your customers that a system breach has given a hacker hundreds of credit card numbers (or other private information) is a disaster. To this end, WatSec has developed WatSmart TM, an integral part of our WatSmart SP program. WatSmart TM is designed to compliment WatSmart VA. Whereas VA is an intensive assessment of customer systems, one that yields a comprehensive baseline report, TM is designed to operate continuously, monitoring both in-bound and out-bound traffic for security threats.
How Does WatSmart TM Work?
WatSec connects a small hardware appliance to your existing internal network. This device is configured to listen but not talk; it monitors your organization’s networking traffic, recording it in a secure (encrypted) manner. A WatSec technician will work remotely with representative slices of your traffic; using a variety of sophisticated tools, he or she will probe for the telltale signs of suspicious activity such as Net traffic originating from overseas or at unusual hours. Each month, your organization will receive a concise report detailing findings. Naturally, if suspicious activity is detected, the relevant individual will be contacted immediately, by phone.
