The WatSmart Secure product family combines proven industry tools, certified security expertise, the WatSmart methodology, and our proprietary intellectual property, to provide management with plain language report cards and detailed remediation road maps. WatSec is changing the way business approaches the IT discipline of Security Vulnerability Management.
Job Overview: You will be working with a senior security specialist and WatSec's WatSmart Secure software to help produce client reports that are easy to understand, technically accurate and with actionable recommendations aligned to the client's business objectives. This is a great opportunity for either a recent graduate or soon-to-be graduate from an Information Security (IT security / Computer & Network security) college or university program, or an IT professional with experience in multiple areas (client support, software development, operating systems, networking etc.) who wants to move into the field of information security.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience and skills
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Perform all aspects of security vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
2. Write security assessment reports for the clients in both simple and technical language.
3. Write or discuss recommendations for remediation.
4. Follow up on the alerts generated by WatSec's systems.
5. Make recommendations for improving the systems and processes being used.
Requirements:
1. Highest ethical standards.
2. Ability to work at the Waterloo office a minimum of two days per week.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
1. Understanding of small and medium business clients and their business objectives beyond technology.
2. Working knowledge of computer networking (TCP/IP).
3. Working knowledge of UNIX and Microsoft security administration.
4. Experience with open source and commercial network security products and vulnerability/pen-testing tools.
5. Strong writing and communication skills.
6. Ability to work across disciplines that are complimentary to information security.
7. Programming experience is valued.
8. Other languages (French, Spanish, other) are valued.
